I can't thank you enough. As a working single parent, I was at a loss trying to help my daughter with her college planning. All of you teach with your heads and your hearts, as if each student was your own child.

Policies: How We Keep Things Moving for Our Students

Acceptance

Admission to Schnabel Learning Success Programs is initiated through a family conference with the learning center director. As our program is based on a “Partners in Parenting” approach, we do not offer service without full parent-student-teacher alignment to determine needs and goals.

There is an interrelationship of critical thinking skills necessary for success on tests such as the PSAT, SAT Reasoning Test, PLAN, ACT, etc. Enhancement of these skills is dependent on creating a balanced student performance. Therefore, we do not offer services for one test section only.

Session Length

Test Prep sessions for SSAT, ISEE, HSPT, PSAT, SAT, SAT Subject Tests, Explore, PLAN, ACT, GRE, GMAT, LSAT are two hours in length.

Subject sessions, such as chemistry or history, are one hour in length.

Parent Communication

We have found that the parent-student-teacher relationship is critical to the success of our program. Therefore, we are committed to keeping parents informed about their student’s progress through email reports.

Parent conferences for enrolled students are by appointment only; center time is devoted to giving students our attention.

We ask that parents and students advise us of their special learning needs so that we, as teachers, can make the necessary adjustments.

Home Study

A moderate amount of study at home is a critical part of our program. Between appointments, students should spend time reviewing errors from completed tests, finishing sections of partially completed tests, and studying Schnabel Learning handouts.

Performance and Conduct

Students are expected to:

  • arrive on time and ready to work
  • bring their notebooks or folders containing previously completed work to each session
  • bring the calculator they plan to use during the actual test administration
  • work quietly and respect the efforts of fellow students
  • enable “silent mode” on their cell phones and discontinue text messaging during the session

Attendance and Cancellation

Our program is based on a standing weekly appointment. We’ve never met anyone who disputed the importance of regular attendance at school.  In fact, we know of schools that give major awards for perfect attendance, and many students who strive for exactly that.

Focus, commitment, and consistency are important aspects of any training regimen; regular attendance is critical for success. Cancellations and no-shows interrupt our ability to deliver service, both to you and other students.

Although we do not guarantee make-ups for missed appointments, every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate each student so that his or her skill-building process will not be substantially altered.

Students should be punctual for all of their appointments; late arrivals may result in decreased session time.
