Get to know where we’ve been…
to understand how we help students get to where they need to be.
We love to tell “The Mom and Tom Story.” It is where Schnabel Learning began.
It was 1982. Audrey Schnabel had been a career teacher in advanced English, journalism, and speech. Tom was a consultant, communicator, educator, and writer. Audrey was about to begin tutoring a child, but suddenly turned to her son Tom, threw a book into his lap and said, “A student is waiting in the other room and he needs your help. Have fun!”
Audrey and Tom were among the first professional tutors in the United States.
Twenty-five years later, we have changed the lives of thousands of students.
And we’re having more fun than ever. We like kids. We believe in them
and we recognize their incredible capabilities. Thus, when we see what else
is out there and what is often accepted as responsible versions of tutoring,
test prep and college prep, we respectfully disagree.
Because we have such a profound regard for students, we wish we could go around correcting much of what we see. Instead, we simply apply ourselves to doing it right – right here at Schnabel Learning. We urge parents and students to understand that there are indeed significant differences in approach. As for us, we understand that college preparation often happens at a time when stress levels can be at their highest. That is why we insist on providing a strong commitment to customer service in all that we do. After all, this is for you and your child. What could be more important?
